IpMan update 2

Just watched it again with bro, and it's still amazing. Not as amazing as the first time, of course, but still amazing nonetheless. I like the use of the Master Liao (the first dude Ip Man fights, not sure if that's his name) to measure the standard of level of kung fu of the other characters. Also, there's this part I noticed where Ip Man says in Chinese something like wo qu xian xi lian, but the subtitles reads Go wash your face first or something like that. And I realised that General Miura looks like the Japanese version of Wentworth Miller.

No?

Wild imaginations

Dreams.. I've been getting all sorts of weird dreams lately. In one, I was lying on my bed when my brother came up to me and told me that one of my friends was dead. And it was kinda real. But not as real as the two dreams I just had.

I dreamt that I was given my Christmas present, and before I opened it I guessed that it was an active camo ODST. And it was. The tearing of the wrapper and all was so real. Then I had another dream, this one more scary. I was with my sec school mates, and we were on the third or fourth floor of Agus's house (dunno why him, not that I really knew him well), and a group of us went scaling outside his house, hands and feet gripping the protruding ledges. As we made our way to the left, Agus pulled down a long black pole. Since we were at the position of the fulcrum, the pole went downwards, and we all slid down it to the first floor. No harnesses.

Then we made our way to this snowy desolate place, where I spot a Black hawk helicopter. As it came closer, I realised that it wasn't any ordinary Black hawk. This one was bigger, bulkier, and was flying from side to side. It seemed to be in trouble. Then like any nightmare, it took a turn and headed towards our direction, and crashed in the center of the group, killing almost all but me. Searching for my friends underneath the snow and rubble, I saw them as stuffed toys, but at that time, it made sense. Every single stuff toy which died had squashed eyes dripping blood, since that was their most vulnerable part. The helicopter which crashed then opened up at the top, and a real black Hawk emerged from it. Then I went back to school to tell the sad news, and from there it gets all fuzzy. Apparently some giant monster ice truck, imagine CARS the movie style comes and saves the day, bringing back all the bodies. I'm not sure if they were alive or dead..

Ip man iz teh shitz! Definitely in my top 3 movies of this year. It's the only show other than The Dark Knight to have me sitting on the edge of my seat. The fighting scenes are simply amazing, and throughout the movie I was always waiting for the next fight scene to happen. Watching Donnie Yen throw those 'machine gun' punches was like having joygasms over and over again. He simply obliterated anyone standing in his way, and since he was the 'good' guy, you could relate to him in the sense that every punch or kick that connected with the bad guys, you just wanna shout and cheer for him. I'm sure the dudes agree with me. Definitely worth 6 bucks, hell, I would have paid 10 bucks just to see it, and you should too. And so ends my short review of Ip Man. Which is pronounced as eep mun by the way.

Got an Adidas shirt as a Christmas present from Uncle Francis. And it fits. Very nice.

Blonde.. Heh...

And my Christmas shopping is almost done! Now I just have to find stuff for the family, and It'll be finished. Had Dinner at Swensons as a treat, now that I've finally gotten my WCG pay.

Can't wait to watch IPman! And I've been playing KOTOR again just to nostalgic cravings (is that even grammatically right?) The last two weeks have been kinda weird for me; I keep feeling this sense of nostalgia somehow, not that I'm complaining, I like it a lot. :/

An interesting read

Wow, just read an article on "Agent X". The best part? It makes sense, and uses rational thinking to determine the truth, and doesn't force any specific religion on you. If you've got an open mind, and time, you should really read this. It took me about an hour to read it all, but it was well worth it. However, if you're only gonna spend five minutes reading it, don't bother. It'll be a waste of time.

Diploma ATCL examination

It's over! I'm finally free to finish up my games, free to read the forums, free to watch the T.V like no one's business. WHOOOOOT! I knew the exam would be over sooner or later, but it's really over!

Ok now to the sad part. 15 minutes before the examination, I was in the male toilet (of course) warming up my hands with the dryer, just it case it would be too cold for me, as it was the last time I went in. So when I go into the examination room, I'm surprised at the formalities or rather, lack thereof. The old but kind looking guy told me to have a seat, and to wait for awhile so that he could clear up his table. Lol.

Then he said something along the lines of "Ryan, don't treat this as an examination..." and I'm thinking, what, is he consoling/comforting me? Awesome.. "Treat this as a performance" Oh yeah like that will ease me. My fingers were shaking, just a little. Then I played the first song. Man what a disappointment. Practiced and practiced the Toccata so many times that I bet everyone in my house hates it, yet, I still made the same mistakes I thought I already corrected. Still, no choice but to carry on. Tried my best to focus on the music, but man, so many thoughts just went through my mind. I thought of starwars, the old guy, what might he think of my playing, home, what I'm gonna do after I finish the exam, how long more to the next piece, do my hands feel cold? etc. You get the idea. Whole lot of shit I had to push to the back of my mind.

Second song was ok, not fantastic though. Could have done a better job, i'm sure. Made quite a few mistakes here and there. :( Good thing I saved the best for last. Brahms' Intermezzo might just save me from another 700 bucks not to mention tuition fees. I hope.

Overall, I think I might pass. Distinction? No, probably not. But this past week has got to be the week I've practiced the most piano in my whole life. Been waking up around 7 or 8 am and playing through the whole day. I, being a last minute person, tried to chiong my practices the last one and a half week. Now I realise that can't be done for piano. I need be perfect 1 month at least before the exam, then from there just keep practicing and practicing. Ahh heck, what's done is done. Now to go watch Eagle Eye.

Finally, the end of VPess, probably the most slack module ever.

My final Assignment:

Quite happy with it, actually, quite happy with the whole of VPess. Jack said that I should put this into my portfolio. I have no idea how :/ I don't even have a portfolio. Lol. 'Easter eggs' galore in the assignment, see if you can spot them.

Anyways, had ice cream prata yesterday after school. It was.... weird... But nice.. Still weird though. I think my tastebuds are getting less and less spicy-proof. Just a little chilli will start a chain reaction; my face gets red, my body gets hot, and I start to sweat. It's not that I can't take chilli, but rather that my body refuses anything spicy without me sweating. :/

Went for my $64-per-hour booking at parkway parade to try out the piano I'm going to use for my exam. First impression: It sucks! The touch is so hard; I had to use much more force to play the keys, and the cold aircon did no help numbing my fingers. In short, I couldn't play fast anymore. But then, the aircon went off, and by that time I had gotten used to the feel of the piano, and hey, I actually liked it. I was back to my usual speed, but I guess the main reason why was because of the increase in temperature.

Sad thing is that the woman in charge told me that it's gonna be very cold during my examination time. Dang. I see no way to prepare myself for that, other than wearing golves while waiting for the examination. Good thing that VPess is gonna end in a few hours time, and I'll have more time to practice.

Countdown: Exactly ONE more week to my exams, and I'm still rushing for my final assignment! And I haven't done my program notes. Ahh!!11! I'm such a lazy bum. It seems I'm only able to fully concentrate on my work during the wee hours of the night. Not good, not good. Ahh what am I doing blogging at 4 am?!
