SOOOOOO....
dead.
Pulau Ubin is so dead, compared to about 10 years ago. Signs of human life are slowly being consumed by the jungle. Celestial resort is just about the only resort left. There are telltale signs of the shine it used to have, now slowly being eroded away by the lack of civilisation, tourists, people. A broken pool table, broken arcade machines, murky lagoon waters. But it's not all that bad actually. The rooms are decent. And that's like the only thing that matters to me for a one night stay. Fish spa is so funny. It's a feeling that's so hard to describe word for word. The little fishies just cling onto any part of your exposed body and om nom nom.
Biking in Ubin is an experience not to miss. Steep, coarse, unridable slopes. Mosquitoes desperately trying to get a free meal and ride. That sort of thing. Plus points are the very few but interesting kampong sheds situated around the island. I'd like to see the insides of them. Really kampong lifestyle man, restaurants close at 6-7pm. No lights, gotta be back at the resort before nightfall.
I won't be going back anytime soon, it's a little sad to see it in the state it is in now. Hurray for nature lovers though. I hope the gov turns it into a tourist spot again one day.
